Drug Use

Sports?Everyone loves sports weather its football,basketball,soccer,baseball,softball,etc. But when it comes to sports there can be a downside about sports. For example the drug use that players use.”Nearly four years after he began wagging a costly, draining and ultimately losing battle to discredit his positive test for synthetic testosterone at the 2006 Tour de France” according to ESPN news caster. Floyd Landis was a famous Cyclist who had won Tour de France but was strip of his winning because he was tested positive for testosterone. After Landis got tested positive he was banned for two years of cycling. Many athletes use drugs for many reasons for example to help them grew muscles,or sometimes a muscle relaxer. A athlete will use steroids, cannabis, opiates.

As years go by the amount athletes drug abuse goes up, do to the find of new drugs every year.Another case of an athlete using drugs is Darryl Strawberry who was a MLB four time series champion, but his glory ended due to the use of cocaine and alcohol use. Darryl Strawberry had a good matter of fact great reputation for being a Major League Baseball player who had won the world series four times, and he made eight consecutive all-star games through out his 17 year career. As a kid Strawberry had it rough growing up “My childhood always was a real disaster.” Strawberry had an abusive father growing up he would “whop” strawberry and his older bother.”Me and Ronnie were basically his whopping pole”. As the years go on Darryl had started to play baseball to deal with the abuse, when he first started baseball he had a nasty attitude. But despite his attitude he was picked 1 draft pick in 1980 by the New York Mets. As he career started to take he gained all the fame from being No. 1 draft pick to being Player of the year in 1983, all this fame was to much for him to handle which he turned to the drugs to help him.” I did everything to make me feel good. I drank alcohol, took amphetamines.Later down the line, I got introduced heavily into cocaine which was my outlet and escape…”. Even tho his life was charshing he still managed to lead his team to the world series. Later through the years he was suspended for the drugs use, he was soon to play again for the New York Mets, but as years went on he was arrested for drugs and prostitution. After that he began to lose everything his career,wife, and he almost lost him self.

Athletes do drugs and other things while not worrying about the consequences that will come after the drug use.
